Punjab Kings allrounder Sam Curran scored the first half-century of the Indian Premier League 2024 in their match against Delhi Capitals on March 22.

Sam Curran bagged the first fifty of the season in PBKS’ 174 runs-chase game. Sam Curran scored his first fifty of the season in 39 deliveries at a strike rate of 128.21 which includes 5 boundaries.

Speaking on the match, winning the toss, the Punjab Kings captain decided to field first while Rishabh Pant also stated that they would have also batted first if they won the toss.

David Warner and Mitchell Marsh opened the innings for Delhi Capitals and scored 39 runs for the first wicket. Arshdeep Singh bagged the first wicket by dismissing Mitchell Marsh for 20 runs.

Following his dismissal, Warner and Hope made a 35-run stand where Harshal Patel broke the partnership by dismissing Warner for 29 runs. Following his dismissal, Rishabh Pant made his entrance onto the pitch but managed to score only 18 runs.

In the 4th delivery of the 13th over bowled by Harshal Patel, Rishabh Pant picked a wrong shot which ended up dabbing a dolly into the hands of Bairstow at backward point.

Abishek Porel scored 25 runs off the final over bowled by Harshal Patel and helped Delhi Capitals to finish at 174 runs for 9 wickets.

On the other hand, PBKS’ opening batters Shikhar Dhawan and Jonny Bairstow failed to build the necessary opening partnership and were dismissed for 22 and 9 runs respectively.

Soon after Prabhsimran Singh‘s dismissal for 26 runs, Sam Curran and Liam Livingstone made a 50-run stand and led Punjab Kings to score 148 runs in 17.1 overs. Sam Curran was dismissed for 63 runs after settling the team in a safer position.
