Royal Challengers Bangalore Eyes on Comeback as Yash Dayal bags Two Wickets against Kolkata

After running a poor campaign with only one victory out of seven matches in the IPL 2024 campaign, Royal Challengers Bangalore is looking for a victory at the Sunday clash on April 21 at Eden Gardens.

Yash Dayal picked up two big wickets in Kolkata’s top order which made them struggle in the scorecard.

Royal Challengers Bangalore secured their only victory against Punjab Kings with 4 wickets on March 25. Their last encounter with Kolkata Knight Riders concluded with a defeat at Bengaluru Stadium.

Despite putting up a score of 182 runs in the match, their bowling department was not up to the mark as Kolkata reached the target in the 17th over losing only 3 wickets.

Despite their poor run, Virat Kohli has maintained the top position in the list of most runscorers in the season so far. He amassed 361 runs including one century and two fifties with a strike rate of 147.34.

Coming to the match, Royal Challengers Bangalore won the toss and opted to bowl. Batting first Kolkata’s opener Philip Salt smashed 48 runs in 14 deliveries including seven fours and 3 sixes.

After the dismissal of Sunil Narine and Angkrish Raghuvanshi by Yash Dayal, Venkatesh Iyer smashed 16 runs while Shreyas Iyer smashed a half-century on 36 deliveries including seven four and 1 six. With this dismissal of Venkatesh, KKR lost four wickets for 94 runs. With the help of Shreyas’ fifty, Kolkata got back into the game.

Rinku Singh smashed 24 runs and helped the side to take the score above the 200 mark. Yash Dayal and Cameron Green bagged two wickets while Mohammed Siraj and Lockie Ferguson picked a wicket each. Finally, Kolkata Knight Riders smashed 222 runs for 6 wickets in 20 overs.

With the target of 223 runs, Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis scored 18 and 7 runs respectively while Will Jacks and Rajat Patidar smashed half-centuries in the match. Will Jacks scored 55 runs on 32 deliveries while Rajat Patidar scored 52 runs on 23 deliveries before being sent out by Andre Russell.

With Cameron Green and Mahipal Lomror’s dismissal, RCB scored 155 runs by the end of the 13th over. Suyash Prabudessai and Dinesh Karthik joined the partnership at the crease after the dismissal of Lomror by Sunil Narine.

With the dismissal of Dinesh Karthik and Karn Sharma for 25 and 20 runs respectively, Royal Challengers Bangalore scored 221 runs losing all 10 wickets in 20 overs.

Andre Russell bagged three wickets in the match, while Harshit Rana and Sunil Narine Bagged two wickets each powering the victory of Kolkata Knight Riders.
