During the run chase of 229 runs in the Champions Trophy 2025 match against Bangladesh, India’s captain Rohit Sharma crossed 11,000 ODI runs and became the second-fastest batter to achieve the feat.
The 37-year-old right-handed batter crossed the 11,000 run mark in the 261st innings of his 269th ODI match for Men in Blues.
Meanwhile, Virat Kohli who has 13,962 runs to his name in 297 ODIs played so far, crossed the 11,000 run mark in ODIs during his 222nd innings of the 230th match played against Pakistan in Manchester on June 16, 2019.

Rohit is the fourth Indian and overall 10th batter in the world to score 11,000 runs in ODIs. Rohit has three centuries to his name in four matches played so far against Bangladesh in ICC ODI events, would like to convert his good start into a big score.

Rohit Sharma achieved the feat during the fifth ball of the fourth over of their innings. Earlier, Bangladesh scored 228 runs depsite their top order fail losing 5 wickets for 39 runs. However the Tigers went on to roar back into competition after Towhid Hridoy and Jaker Ali’s emergence.
With India’s fielding errors, Bangladesh got life line thrice and went on to put a decent score in the board.
They went on to stitch 150+ run parntership for the sixth wicket which helped the side to revive from India’s bowling attacks.
With Jaker Ali dismissed for 68 runs, Hridoy went on to score his maiden ODI century helping the side to cross 200+ run mark and finish their innings for 228 runs.
Shami picked five wickets while Harshit Rana and Axar Patel picked 3 and 2 wickets respectively.
