Bangladesh batter Towhid Hridoy slammed his maiden ODI century and helped the side fight back during the Champions Trophy 2025 clash against India.

Towhid Hridoy went on to achieve the feat in 114 deliveries and helped the side to cross the 200+ run mark after the top-order collapse.

Having played 33 ODIs Hridoy has scored 877 runs at an average of 33.73 and a strike rate of 83.52 which included 7 fifties.

Earlier, Bangladesh’s top order was shattered into pieces in the first 10 overs of the match after Najmul Shanto opted to bat first.

Shami Strike twice to dismiss Soumya Sarkar and Mehidy Hasan Miraz while Harshit Rana bagged a wicket of Najmul for duck.

Axar Patel removed Tanzid Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim to leave Bangladesh stuttering at 35/5. He made a sensational start to his over in the powerplay of the Champions Trophy 2025.

After dismissing Tanzid and Mushfiqur Rahim, he created the opportunity for a hattrick when he forced Jaker Ali to edge the ball, but Indian captain Rohit Sharma missed the catch at first slip.

After giving life line, both Jaker Ali and Towhid Hridoy helped the side to recover from early dismissals.

With Bangladesh was stuttering with 39/5, both made a 154 runs partnership to revive the side. Both batters have made most of the three lives due to India’s fielding errors and both went on to score half-centuries. After their emergence, the Men in Blues could not pick any wickets.

However, Shami went on pick the wicket of Jaker Ali for 68 runs while Hridoy went on to smash 100 on 118 deliveries.

India’s fielding was flawless in the first 10 overs as Bangladesh lost five wickets for 39 runs. However, the men in blues dropped two catches which denied Axar Patel’s Hattrick and Rahul missing a stumping chance.

As a result, Jaker Ali and Towhid Hridoy forged a partnership to find stability in the innings. Jaker Ali was dropped in the very first ball by Rohit Sharma at Slip which denied Axar Patel’s Hattrick.

Hardik Pandya dropped Hridoy in the 20th over, and two overs later, KL Rahul missed a stumping chance.

Finally Bangladesh lost all 10 wickets to score 228 runs. Shami went on to pick a five wicket haul while Harshit Rana and Axar Patel contributed 3 and 2 wickets for the side.
