After the departure of Rohit Sharma for 41 runs, star batter Virat Kohli joined Shubman Gill for the side’s 229-run chase during the second match of the Champions Trophy 2025.
Rohit Sharma scored 41 runs off 36 deliveries which included 7 fours has been dismissed by Taskin Ahmed in the 5th ball of the 10th over. India scored 69 runs for the first wicket. During the match, he also crossed 11,000 ODI runs and became the second-fastest batter surpassing Sachin Tendulkar.
Meanwhile, Shubman Gill was building the innings slow and steady aiming for a comfortable win in the match.
The 36-year-old has played 297 ODI formats and scored 13963 runs with a high score of 183 at an average of 57.93 with a strike rate of 93.52. He has 50 ODI centuries and 73 half-centuries in the format.
Despite his dip in form recently, Virat Kohli is expected to play a crucial role in the India’s Champions Trophy campaign.

Earlier, Bangladesh secured 228 runs in their innings with a century from Towhid Hridoy and decent knock from Jaker Ali.

However, the men in blues dropped two catches which denied Axar Patel’s Hattrick and Rahul missing a stumping chance. Hardik Pandya dropped Hridoy in the 20th over, and two overs later, KL Rahul missed a stumping chance.
Hridoy and Jaker Ali found their momentum to lead the side in scoreboard. They stitched a 154 run partnership for the sixth wicket. After Shami picked wicket of Jaker Ali for 68 runs, Bangladesh side lost their control and lost the wickets one by one.
