Mallika Sagar will be the auctioneer for the  Women’s Premier League 2024 auction in Mumbai.

Mallika Sagar was given the responsibility for conducting the auction smoothly and was also the charge of the proceedings in the last season.

The WPL 2024 auction is set to be held on December 9 and the five franchises of the league are looking to fill the gaps to prepare for the upcoming WPL 2024.

The WPL 2024 Auction live streaming will be available on Jio Cinema and Sports 18 from 2 PM IST onwards.

Mallika Sagar is an art collector consultant for modern and contemporary art and currently works with Art India Consultant firm. The IPL auctions have been conducted by Hugh Edmeades, Richard Madley, and Charu Sharma in past years, but Mallika Sagar has been the auctioneer for WPL since the league’s inaugural.

She was also the part of Pro Kabaddi League auction in 2021 and she is expected to be the auctioneer for the upcoming IPL 2024 auction.

Around 165 players (104 Indians and 61 overseas) have registered for the WPL 2024 auction. This list includes 15 cricketers from associate nations. With 30 slots to be filled across all five teams, the Giants have the most number of vacant spots.

A total of 60 players including 21 overseas cricketers were retained across five playing teams while 29 players were released from their existing squads.

The total capped players are 56, uncapped players are 109. A maximum of 30 slots are available with the five teams, with 9 spots for overseas players.

With the success of the inaugural edition of the WPL 2023, the BCCI has decided to organize the WPL 2024 with five teams. The WPL 2023 concluded with the victory of Mumbai Indians by defeating Delhi Capitals in the finals.
