    Rohit Sharma Overtakes Babar Azam in ODI Rankings

    In the latest ODI batter rankings, Rohit Sharma has leapfrogged Babar Azam to take the No. 2 position, having accumulated 756 rating points.

    The 38-year-old batter from Mumbai played the last ODI on March 09, against New Zealand in the finals of the Champions Trophy 2025, where he scored 76 runs to help his side clinch their third title.

    Rohit’s rise in the rankings has pushed Pakistan star Babar Azam to third place. Babar Azam managed to score only 56 runs in three matches of the recently concluded series against West Indies where the hosts claimed 2-1 win.

    The 30 year old handed batter from Lahore has 751 rating points. India’s test captain Shubman Gill continues to top the ICC Test batter’s ranking. The 25 year old right handed batter from Punjab has 784 rating points.

    Middle order batter Shreyas Iyer has made eighth position with 704 rating points and Virat Kohli takes fourth position with 736 ratings.

    In Test cricket, Yashasvi Jaiswal is India’s highest ranked batter. The 23-year old left handed batter is in fourth place with 792 points.

    On the other hand, ICC T20I batter rankings, Tilak Varma jumped one place to become No. 2 T20I batter.

    Meanwhile, former captain Virat Kohli is in fourth position with 736 points and will be aiming to move up when he returns for a three-match ODI series against Australia in October.

    The rise in rankings come at a time when the BCCI said it’s no hurry to decide the futures of Rohit and Kohli after a news report claimed that the two players might retire after the tour of Australia in October.

    However, both Kohli and Rohit Sharma has begun their training for the upcoming challenge. While Rohit joined hands with former India assistant coach Abhishek Nayar in Mumbai, Kohli had an indoor nets session in London.

    India has five players in the top 15 of the men’s ODI batting rankings. With Shreyas Iyer has claimed 8th place, KL Rahul occupies 15th position.

    Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli last appeared in ODIs during India’s victorious Champions Trophy campaign. The duo announced their retirement in Test cricket through the IPL season. Both were expected to return to action in August, but the bilateral series against Bangladesh, originally scheduled for this month.
