ICC Men’s ODI World Cup-winning captain Pat Cummins has been named as the new captain of the Sunrisers Hyderabad for the IPL 2024 season.
Pat Cummins Appointed as SRH Captain for IPL 2024 Season
As per IPL 2024 Schedule, Sunrisers Hyderabad will play their first match of the season against Kolkata Knight Riders on March 23 in Kolkata.
Aiden Markram who captained the team last year failed to lead the team to playoffs and finished at the last position with only 4 wins from 14 matches. Though Markram failed as captain last season, he was expected to remain as the captain of the team after successfully defending the title for Sunrisers Eastern Cape – Sunrisers’ franchise in the SA20 League.
But the franchise made a massive move by replacing Pat Cummins as the skipper for the team. Sunrisers Hyderabad roped in Pat Cummins for a massive INR 20.50 crore in the IPL 2024 Auction held in Dubai.

Pat Cummins so far played 42 IPL matches bagged 45 wickets and scored 379 runs with a highest of 66 runs.
Among 10 teams playing in the IPL 2024 tournament, the top 4 teams in the IPL 2024 points table will be qualified to enter the IPL 2024 playoff rounds from which top teams will lock horns to play the IPL 2024 finals.
As of last season, SRH will play their home games of the IPL 2024 in Rajiv Gandhi Stadium, Hyderabad. Sunrisers Hyderabad will face Mumbai Indians to play their first home game of the season on March 27, 2024.
