The United States captain Monank Patel smashes fifty during the T20 World Cup 2024 match against Pakistan giving a solid stand for the side on June 06 at Dallas.

The Indian-based US cricketer smashed his first fifty of the tournament in 35 deliveries including seven fours and one six. With his impressive stand with Andreas Gous, the United States had an impressive start, but Gous’s dismissal of their batting lineup started to crumble.

Coming to the match, the United States won the toss and opted to bowl. Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam opened the innings and Rizwan was sent back to the dugout for 9 runs. With Usman and Fakhar Zaman’s departure for 3 and 11 runs, Pakistan lost three wickets in the fifth over.

Shadab Khan came to crease to rescue the team from early dismissals. By the end of the 10th over, Pakistan scored 66 runs with Babar Azam and Shadab Khan in the crease. Kenjige bagged his second and third wicket by dismissing Shadab Khan for 40 runs and Azam Khan for a golden duck.

Iftikhar Ahmed scored 18 runs before losing his wicket to Netravalkar and with Shaheen Afridi’s 23* runs Pakistan scored 159 runs by the end of 20 overs.

With a target of 160 runs, United States started their innings where Steven Taylor was sent back to the dugout for 12 runs. Monank Patel smashed 50 runs before being dismissed by Amir while Haris Rauf dismissed Andries Gous for 35 runs.
