The MI New York batters, Monank Patel and Nicholas Pooran’s knocks, have helped the side to post a comfortable victory against the Los Angeles Knight Riders.

Their fifties along with Trent Boult’s impressive spell powered 8-Wicket win for MI New York in the MLC 2025 clash against Knight Riders. By this victory, MI New York secured their second win of the season and secured 5th position of the MLC 2025 Points table.

Batting first, Los Angeles suffered a batting collaspe before Sherfane Rutherford’s impressive knock.

Chand and Andre Fletcher opened the innings while Trent Boult opened the bowling attack.

Boult caused a havoc dismissing the entire top order in the power play. Chand was sent out on a duck in the first ball of the innings while Russell was sent out for 15 runs in the 3rd over.

With Andre Fletcher’s dismissal for 11 runs, Los Angeles Knight Riders lost three wickets in the powerplay. They went on to score 35 runs by the end of 6 overs.

After Saif Badar’s dismissal for 7 runs, Sherfane Rutherford made an impressive knock to post 86 runs off 44 deliveries with five fours and 6 sixes.

However, the middle order and low order suffered a disappointing collaspe making only 154 runs in their 20 over innings.

In the pursuit of chasing 155 runs, MI New York’s Quinton de Kock and Monank Patel opened the innings while Jason Holder opened the bowling attack.

Despite Narine dismissed de Kock for 11 runs, Monank Patel and Nicholas Pooran made solid fifties.

Monank Patel went on to score 56 runs off 44 deliveries before being dismissed by Andre Russell.

However, Pooran went on to score 62* runs and Pollard’s 14* runs has helped the side to post a comfortable victory with 13 balls to spare.

Trend Boult was named as the Player of the Match. Speaking at the post match conference, he said, “I wouldn’t say the master but I have a clear role to take wickets.”

“The conditions were humid and I made the most of the conditions, nice to get a couple of wickets upfront. I suppose I have enough experience to adapt and show good control. There’s still place for swing bowling,” he concluded.

MI New York will once again lock horns against Los Angeles Knight Riders on July 06 at Central Broward Regional Park.
