During the pre-match conference ahead of the New Zealand clash in the Champions Trophy 2025, India’s wk-batter KL Rahul has confirmed that Rohit Sharma will be available for the upcoming match.
He also confirmed Mohammed Shami’s availability for the match against New Zealand. During India’s clash against arch-rivals Pakistan, Rohit Sharma faced a hamstring injury and left the field for a few overs.
Shami also departed the field after the fifth over in the match as he was struggling with an ankle issues.
“From what I know, everything seems pretty okay,” Rahul told reporters. “There’s no real concern about anyone missing games as far as I know. We’ll probably know more in today’s training. Everyone’s been in the gym, everyone has been in the training as well.
“Little, some concerns, but I don’t think too much.” KL Rahul also spoke about temptation to experiment with different players but remained uncertain about whether India would make changes.

“There are temptations to try different players before the semis, but I am not sure that will be the case. There is little time before the semifinals, so you would want players to get maximum game time. This is my perspective, but things could change.”
“I am not part of the leadership group,” he added. India has been qualified for semis after a comfortable win against Pakistan.
The match featured Virat Kohli’s 51st ODI century, Shreyas Iyer’s fifty and impactful bowling from Kuldeep Yadav and Hardik Pandya ensured a six-wicket win.
Meanwhile, either of the openers may decide to take a break ahead of the semi-final clash. Reports suggest that Virat Kohli can take a break and Rishabh Pant can be given a opportunity.
On the other hand, Shami might give way for Arshdeep Singh in the upcoming clash. However, it will not be suprising if the team backs the same Xl to carry the momentum.
The final Group stage match of the Champions Trophy between India and New Zealand will be played on Dubai International Stadium.
