Arshdeep Singh Biography: Arshdeep Singh who has extraordinary skills in cricket made his IPL debut for Punjab Kings in 2019. Following his impressive performances in the IPL he was included in India’s T20I squad for South Africa in 2022.

Arshdeep Singh has been interested in cricket since childhood and started cricketing at the age of 13. He completed his early education at Guru Nanak Public School where he started training under his coach Jaswant Rai.

He used to travel on a bicycle every day to reach the cricket academy in Chandigarh. He has represented Chandigarh and Punjab Cricket teams in state-level tournaments. He took 19 wickets in 5 matches for Chandigarh in the Punjab Inter-District ODI Championship for DP Azad Trophy.

Arshdeep Family

Arshdeep Singh came from an upper-middle-class family. His family follows the path of Sikhism and worships Sikh Gurus. His father Darshan Singh is a retired CISF inspector and currently works as Chief Security Officer in a private company. He has an elder brother named Akashdeep Singh who works in Brampton, Canada.

Domestic Career

Arshdeep made his List A match debut during the match between Punjab and Himachal on September 19, 2018, where he bowled 10 overs for Punjab and dismissed two wickets for 51 runs. Punjab won the match by 35 runs.

He made his FC debut during the match between Vidarbha and Punjab on December 25-28, 2019 where he dismissed 3 wickets for 65 runs. Despite his impressive efforts, the match resulted in a draw.

IPL Career

  • Arshdeep Singh made his IPL debut in the match between Kings Xl Punjab and Rajasthan Royals on April 16, 2019. He was bought at his base price of INR 20 lakhs in the season’s auction. He got only a few opportunities to play in the season.
  • In the following season, he played 8 matches and took nine wickets at an economy of 8.77.
  • During the IPL 2021 season, he played 12 IPL matches and took a whopping 18 wickets at an economy of 8.27. Notably, he was among the top six wicket-takers in the season. He had a five-wicket haul during the match against Rajasthan Royals on 21 September 2021.
  • During the IPL 2022 season, he played 14 matches and whooped 10 wickets on the season. He also amassed 21 runs in 3 innings he batted with a strike rate of 72.41.

  • Arshdeep was named in the ODI and T20I squad for India’s tour of England in 2022 and was named in the ODI squad for the series against West Indies in July 2022.
  • He made his ODI debut during the first match of the India tour of New Zealand on 25 November 2022 where he failed to take wickets in 8 overs he bowled. New Zealand won the match with seven wickets.
    • He scored 9 runs during the 3rd ODI match of the tour on November 30, 2022, and bowled 5 overs giving 21 runs where the match ended with no result.
  • He was part of the ODI squad of India’s tour of South Africa in 2023. He was impressive with his five-wicket haul during the first match of the ODI series on December 17, 2023, helping the side to secure their victory.

T20I career

  • He made his T20I debut during the match against England on July 07, 2022 where India won by 50 runs. He bowled 21 balls in the match and bagged 2 wickets.
  • He took seven wickets in India’s tour of West Indies including a three-wicket haul in the 4th T20I on August 06, 2022. In October 2022, he was named in India’s squad for the South Africa series and dismissed two wickets in 2 T20I matches.
  • He was part of the Indian squad which won the Asian Games 2023 in the Men’s cricket division. During on October 03, 2023, in the match against Nepal in the Quarter Finals he bagged 2 wickets in four overs he bowled. India won the match with 23 runs.
    • He dismissed Mohammad Shahzad in the finals of the Asian Games 2023 where the match ended with no result. The Indian men’s cricket team was awarded the Gold Medal based on T20 rankings.
  • He dismissed four wickets during the five-match T20I series against Australia in the home tour.

  • Arshdeep Singh was named in India’s under-19 Cricket World Cup 2018. During the tournament’s 11th match against Papua New Guinea on January 16, 2018, he bowled three overs and dismissed a wicket for 10 runs. India won the match by 10 wickets.
  • He dismissed 2 wickets for 10 runs in the match against Zimbabwe on January 19, 2018, he bowled 7 overs while India won by 10 wickets.

ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022

  • In September 2022, he was named in India’s squad for the ICC T20 World Cup 2022. During India’s opening match against Pakistan on 23 October 2022, he took the wicket of Skipper Babar Azam on the first ball of his first over in the innings. He bagged 3 wickets in the four overs he bowled.
  • Arshdeep bagged 2 wickets in four overs during the match against Netherlands on 27 October 2022 where India won the match by 56 runs.

Wikipedia page Tampered

During the match against Pakistan in the Super Fours of the Asia Cup 2022 where he missed a simple catch. People started trolling him very badly on social media. Pakistan won the match by 5 wickets and his Wikipedia page was also tampered with.

While tracking the IP address, it was found that his page was vandalized from Pakistan. The trollers wrote on his page as the Player of the Match for Khalistan instead of India. Calling him a traitor also insulted him.
