India’s Fielding errors helped Bangladesh to find balance during their opening match of the Champions Trophy 2025 played on February 20.
India’s fielding was flawless in the first 10 overs as Bangladesh lost five wickets for 39 runs. However, the men in blues dropped two catches which denied Axar Patel’s Hattrick and Rahul missing a stumping chance.
As a result, Jaker Ali and Towhid Hridoy forged a partnership to find stability in the innings. Jaker Ali was dropped in the very first ball by Rohit Sharma at Slip which denied Axar Patel’s Hattrick.
Hardik Pandya dropped Hridoy in the 20th over, and two overs later, KL Rahul missed a stumping chance.
Earlier, Bangladesh’s top order was shattered into pieces in the first 10 overs of the match after Najmul Shanto opted to bat first.

Axar Patel removed Tanzid Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim to leave Bangladesh stuttering at 35/5. He made a sensational start to his over in the powerplay of the Champions Trophy 2025.
After dismissing Tanzid and Mushfiqur Rahim, he created the opportunity for a hattrick when he forced Jaker Ali to edge the ball, but Indian captain Rohit Sharma missed the catch at first slip.
