The all-rounder Cameron Green is hoping to play some Sheffield Shield and County Cricket in England before the World Test Championship (WTC) final against South Africa in June.
Green underwent back surgery in October 2024, aftr suffering a stress fracture in his lower back during Australia’s white-ball series against England.

While speaking at the Cricket Australia Awards in Melbourne after winning the Community Impact Award for his work with Kidney Health Australia, Cameron Green revealed that his is eyeing a return in Westerns Australia’s final game at home against Victoria on March 15.
Cameron Green is exploring the option of playing County cricket and said that playing in England would provide match fitness so he can put himself in the fram to play the ICC Test Championship Final in June.
While Green is touch and go to play the final round of the Sheffield Shield, this is big news for the Australians with Green offering valuable runs before his injury.
Green has averaged more than 50 last summer and moved up to No.4 spot in batting lineup. He scored a stunning 174* during that series while batting in the spot.
But Green’s push to return for the final against South Africa spells trouble for Labuschagne and Beau Webster.
Ahead of the Sri Lanka tour, chief selector George Bailey suggested that he was ready for Green to return as a specialist batter ahead of the South Africa showdown.
“Very hopeful that he’ll be available as a batsman for the World Test Championship final,” he said last month.
The defending Champions are currrently involved in a two match test series in Australia’s tour of Sri Lanka 2025 where they secured a 1-0 lead with a match to spare. They will be playing the second match of the series beginning on February 06 at Galle International Stadium.
