IND vs ENG 1st ODI Pitch Report: The first match of the ODI series in England’s tour of India 2025 is set to be a high intense clash to be played an Nagpur on Thursday. While forecasting or predicting the scores of any match, the nature of the pitch takes a major role.

Talking on the point of cricket, Nagpur pitches have faced a lot of controversies. The pitch was rated ‘poor’ by the ICC in 2015, and the test against Australia in 2023 also saw the visitors criticising the surface.

But this time, Nagpur is going to present a fresh strip for the ODI opener. The pitch curator reckons it will be a 300+ pitch and will help the spinners in the later for the game.

The Curator also confirmed that the grass could be trimmed on the day of the game. “It seems a 300+ wicket right now, with some help to the spinners in the second half. It looks grassy now, but it might be shaved off,” said a source from VCA.

Meanwhile, India’s vice-captain Shubman Gill has reckoned the wicket will dry soon. He also revealed that he had no information about the pitch that would be used for the game.

“You can never really predict how the wicket is going to play. No instructions have been given by the Indian camp regarding the pitch.”

“I haven’t seen grass being shaved off the pitch. The wicket dries here soon, so they might have kept some grass so that the surface retains moisture,” he said while addressing the media.

Only one Ranji Trophy match was played on the pitch between Vidarbha and Gujarat in November 2024 where Vidarbha posted a 500+ runs and the match ended in a draw.

The three match ODI series will be very crucial for India as it will help them for the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025. India will play their group stage matches against Bangladesh, Pakistan and New Zealand.
