RCB skipper Virat Kohli makes an immediate apology reaction while trying to apply Saliva on the ball. In the match against DC, Virat Kohli tries to apply saliva on the ball and immediately made an apology gesture.

According to the IPL 2020 rule, players are restricted to use saliva on the ball while bowling owing to the COVID-19 pandemic. Players usually apply saliva on the ball for practitioners of swing bowling, integral.

The moisture gained from spit or sweat when combined with polishing smooths out one half of the ball which in turn allows air to pass over one side of the ball more quickly than over the other.

Virat Kohli tries to apply Saliva

RCB’s skipper Virat Kohli, while fielding, applied Saliva on the cricket ball but then immediately realized his mistake and raised his hand for an apology.

The event occurred in just the third over of the match, with Navdeep Saini bowling for RCB and the Capitals opening duo of Prithvi Shaw and Shikhar Dhawan at the crease. Prithvi Shaw had played a rasping drive but Kohli fielded the ball at extra cover and then went on to use his fingers to apply saliva on the ball – to maintain the shine of the ball.

Sachin Tendulkar React to Kohli’s Gesture

Kohli’s reaction even attracted a comment from Sachin Tendulkar. The former cricketer called it a million-dollar reaction. “What an incredible shot by Prithvi Shaw there! A million-dollar reaction by Vira Kohli, after almost applying saliva on the ball. Sometimes instincts takeover!” wrote Tendulkar on Twitter.

Kohli is not the first player to accidentally break the protocol as last week Rajasthan Royals’ Robin Uthappa was caught applying saliva on the ball against Kolkata Knight Riders.
