The Rajasthan Royals captain, Sanju Samson, will be missing the second game in a row after the franchise declared him unfit to play against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
Samson, who sustained an injury while batting in the IPL 2025 clash against Delhi Capitals, has missed the previous encounter against Lucknow Super Giants for the same reason.
With the timeline for Samson’s recovery unclear, Riyan Parag had been named as the captain in his absence. Riyan Parag, who captained the side at the start of the season, with the regular captain, was recovering from surgery to his thumb.
His injury paved the way for a debut for 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi in RR’s previous game, against Lucknow Super Giants.
Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson is currently undergoing recovery and will remain at the team’s home base with select RR medical staff. As part of his ongoing rehab process, he will not be travelling to Bangalore for the upcoming match against RCB,” a statement from the team said.
“The team management is monitoring his progress closely and will take a game-by-game approach regarding his return to action.”
Samson is RR’s second highest run-getter for this season, with 224 runs in seven innings at an average of 37.33. Along with Yashasvi Jaiswal, he are the only batters to have more than 200 runs in the ongoing season.
Rajasthan Royals are the inaugural winners of the IPL in 2008, has only two wins out of eight games in the ongoing 2025 season and secured eighth place in the IPL 2025 points table.
Their match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru on April 24 at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.
