Head Coach Of Peshawar Zalmi: Ahead of PSL 2023, Peshawar Zalmi named Kamran Akmal as their new head coach on February 2, 2023.

Pakistan Cricket Board released the PSL 2023 schedule on January 20, 2023 where the first match of the tournament is scheduled to be played between Multan Sultans and Lahore Qalandars on February 13 at Multan Cricket Stadium. A total of 34 matches will be played between 6 participating teams.

Akmal represented Zalmi for seven seasons till last year, before going unpicked in the most recent draft for the upcoming season.

Kamran was bought for USD 70,000 by the Peshawar Zalmi side. He had an average score of just 151 runs in the 2016 season, with the highest score of 45.

He was retained by the team following his tremendous performance in the 2016–17 Quaid-e-Azam Trophy. In the inaugural match of the 2017 season against Islamabad United, he scored 88 runs off just 48 balls.

He finished the tournament as the leading run-scorer with 353 runs and won the green cap. Akmal is the second-highest run-scorer in PSL’s history with 1972 runs under his belt.

Former Pakistan legend, Inzamamul Haq, will also serve as team mentor for Babar Azam-led Zalmi side in the exhibition match. PCB recently named Akmal as the head of an eight-member selection committee for junior cricket.
