IPL 2024 RR vs RCB: Royal Challengers Bengaluru Iconic batter Virat Kohli becomes the first player to reach 8000 IPL runs during the IPL 2024 Eliminators Match against Rajasthan Royals on May 22 at Narendra Modi Stadium.
Playing his 252nd match in IPL, he achieved the feat in 18 deliveries on the sixth over of their innings. During the match, Rajasthan Royals chose to bowl first where Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis had a fiery start in the match steadily increasing the total in Scoreboard.
Virat Kohli is leading the IPL’s highest run-getter list followed by Shikhar Dhawan (6769), Rohit Sharma (6628), David Warner (6565), and Suresh Raina (5528). Virat Kohli was 29 runs behind the feat before the match. As soon as he hit the 29th run in the match he became the first batter to do so in IPL.

Coming to the tournament, despite having a poor start Bengaluru had given an impressive comeback with six consecutive victories in group stages of the 2024 season to qualify for the playoffs. They defeated Chennai Super Kings in their final group stage matches with a 27-run thriller victory.
With England Players returned for national duty RCB will miss the impact of well-performing Will Jacks in the second half for the franchise.
On the other hand, Rajasthan Royals has lost four out of five games with the game against Kolkata Knight Riders Abandoned due to Rain. Rajasthan will also miss the services from Jos Buttler who returned to England for national duties.
Although RCB has the advantage in the match, it is a do-need-win match as the loser will be eliminated from the tournament while the winner will play in the Qualifiers 02 against Sunrisers Hyderabad on May 24 at Chepauk Stadium.
