The India’s fielding coach T Dilip has provided a crucial update on all-rounder Axar Patel ahead of the Super 4s clash against Pakistan at Dubai.
Patel got injured while taking a catch during the Asia Cup 2025 clash against fixture as he head got hit on the ground and he had to leave the field immediately.
He ran from mid off attempting catch a leading edge from Hammad Mirza’s bat induced by a back of length delivery from Shivam Dube. He managed to reach the ball but failed to complete the catch as it went through his hands.
The Southpaw fell awkwardly on his head which hit the ground and he was immediately seen in some discomfort. After India’s 21 run victory, fielding coach T Dilip gave the update on Axar Patel’s injury and revealed that he looked fine after the match.
“Just now I’ve seen Axar, he looks fine now at this point of time. That’s what I can say about it,” said T Dilip in the post-match press conference.

Axar Patel went on to score 26 runs off 13 deliveries, smashing three fours and a six. With the ball, he could only bowl one over and giving four runs.
He managed to dismiss the Oman captain Jatinder Singh on a lbw, but the onfield called was overturned through the use of DRS.
When asked about India’s next clash fixture against Pakistan, Dilip played down the hype and said the team treats every match as just another fixture and they’re ready to lock horns with the rivals arch again.
“Regarding the Pakistan game, everybody are geared up. We treat every game as the same and we know the schedule, how it is panned out. So every game is just another game and we’re ready for it,” he added.
Following their victory against Oman, India finished on top of Group A, winning all three of their fixtures against UAE, Pakistan and Oman. India will play against Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka in the Super Fours at Dubai International Stadium.
