Shubman Gill who produced an impressive batting display in the ongoing three-match ODI series in England’s Tour of India 2025 has smashed his century.
His 7th ODI century comes from his 50th ODI match played on February 12 at Ahmedabad. Earlier in the innings, Gill created history by becoming the fastest batter to score 2500 ODI runs surpassing Hashim Amla’s record.
He surpassed former South African cricketer Hashim Amla, who reached the milestone in 53 innings. He reached the milestone in style smashing a boundary off Gus Atkinson’s delivery in the 10 over of India’s innings.

Shubman Gill‘s form will significantly boost India’s batting power ahead of the Champions Trophy 2025. With Senior batters Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in the top order, Shubman Gill’s display seems settling.
Gill has been in exceptional form in the ongoing series as he kickstarted the series with an impressive 87 run knock off 96 deliveries. He continued to haunt England bowlers in the second ODI smashing 60 runs off 51 deliveries.
Before stepping into the field for the final match against England, Shubman Gill jumped to the No. 2 spot in ICC ODI batter ranking. He surpassed India’s skipper Rohit Sharma who sits at No.3 spot with 772 rating points while Shubman Gill has 781 points.
The hosts were made to bat after England won the toss. Despite India lost Rohit Sharma in the second over of the match, Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli made an solid stand to stabilize the innings.
Virat Kohli smashed his 73rd ODI half century before being dismissed by Adil Rashid on 19th over. However, Gill went on to smash his century while Shreyas Iyer joins the fireworks and smashed his fifty to cross 200+ run mark at Narendra Modi Stadium.
