The Indian stars Prithvi Shaw and Shreyas Iyer have been named among the 8 icon players for the upcoming season of the T20 Mumbai League 2025 on April 29.
Meanwhile, Ajinkya Rahane, Shivam Dube, Tushar Deshpande, Shardul Thakur, Suryakumar Yadav and Sarfaraz Khan have been named in the icon players list for the third season of the competition.
Prithvi Shaw has been seeing a dip in his career as he was released by DC ahead of the auction and went unsold before the new season.
While many felt that the 25-year-old could have been an ideal replacement for Ruturaj Gaikwad at the Chennai Super Kings, the five-time IPL champions chose to sign young Ayush Mhatre instead.
Prithvi Shaw was part of the Mumbai team which won Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy last season and scored 197 runs in 9 games.
Meanwhile, Suryakumar Yadav, Ajinkya Rahane and Shreyas Iyer has been in good form with the bat for their respective franchises.
Suryakumar Yadav has scored 427 runs in 10 matches, while Shreyas Iyer has 288 runs in 9 matches, Rahane has been the best player for the KKR this season with the bat, scoring 271 runs from 9 matches.

“We are delighted to unveil eight icon players who have brought immense pride to Mumbai with their performances on both the domestic and international stage. They represent the spirit, legacy and excellence of Mumbai cricket.”
“Their presence will not only inspire and mentor emerging talent but also serve as a valuable learning opportunity for them as we remain committed to discovering and promoting the next generation of India’s cricketing stars.”
“Having these players in the league will also raise its stature and provide fans with a thrilling and memorable experience,” said Ajinkya Naik, President of MCA.
The T20 Mumbai League is making a return after 6 years and Rohit Sharma has been roped in as the face of the tournament. The auction for the upcoming season is set to be announced with the 8 teams allowed to choose one player as their icon.
