The ICC chairman Jay Shah has confirmed that Indian veteran batter Rohit Sharma has been named as the Brand Ambassador of the T20 World Cup 2026, which is set to be played in India and Sri Lanka.
This comes during the announcement of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 schedule, which was announced on November 25. Shah took to X to express his regards, announced the news.
He also congratulated the Indian women’s team, which won the inaugural edition of the Blind World Cup recently.
“It’s my honour to announce that @ImRo45 is the tournament ambassador for the upcoming @T20WorldCup in India & Sri Lanka. There can be no better representative for the event than the winning captain of the 2024 T20 World Cup, and a player who has been in all nine editions so far,” Shah wrote on X.

The former Indian skipper Rohit Sharma said that he was provided with special honor while he had not retired from all formats of the game. He also thanked the International Cricket Council (ICC) for the privilege.
“Someone told me, while playing, no one has become the brand ambassador, so it’s a great privilege – thanks to ICC,” said Rohit Sharma.
Under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma, India won their second T20 World Cup title last year, ending an 11-year trophy drought of ICC trophies for the Indian team.
Rohit Sharma had amassed 4231 runs at an average of 32.01 and a strike rate of 140.89.
With Rohit announced his retirement in T20Is and later in Tests, he is currently active only in ODI format and also showed his clash with smashing a century in the ODI series against Australia.
Coming to the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, the tournament is set to be played between February 07 and March 08 with Pakistan and the Netherlands playing in the first match of the tournament.
A total of 8 venues – three from Sri Lanka and five from India will host the matches during the ICC event. The IND-PAK clash has been scheduled on February 15 at R. Premadasa Stadium, Colombo.
