Pakistan has exited the first ICC event they hosted in 29 years without registering a single win after the Champions Trophy 2025.
Their final group-stage match against Bangladesh was abandoned due to persistent rain in Rawalpindi. Mohammad Rizwan’s side ended up with one point and a run rate of -1.087.
The defending champions finished bottom of their group, even below Bangladesh on Net Run Rate after suffering heavy defeats against India and New Zealand.
The failure in the batting department caused the defeats in the Champions Trophy. Pakistan scored only 22 runs in the powerplay while chasing 320 against New Zealand.

Several former cricketers and Pundits slammed Pakistan team for their incompetent against Blackcaps and India. It was reported that interim head coach Aaqib Javed will be sacked from the position.
However, they had an opportunity to seize a victory in the match against Bangladesh, but the clash was extinguished early due to incessant rain in Rawalpindi.
