UP Warriorz (UPW) has roped in Australian batter Georgia Voll as a replacement for Chamari Athapaththu for the remainder of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025.
The Sri Lankan allrounder has left the WPL 2025 midway to resume national duties with Sri Lanka, ahead of their tour of New Zealand starting on March 4.
The official statement reads “UP Warriorz (UPW) picked Georgia Voll as a replacement for Chamari Athapaththu for the remainder of the TATA Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025. Athapaththu will be resuming national duties for Sri Lanka.
A top-order batter, Voll represents Australia in international cricket. A rising star, the 21-year-old has made a sparkling start to her international career, scoring a century in just her second ODI. She has played three T20Is in addition to three ODIs and one Test for Australia”.
The Australian batter joins UP Warriorz for INR 30 lakh and will add depth to their squad as they push forward in the tournament.
UP Warriorz currently holds the fourth spot in the WPL 2025 points table with just two victories out of their first five games this season. Warriorz will play their next game of the season against Gujarat Giants Women on 3 March in Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow.
