Legendary cricketer Sunil Gavaskar has roasted England in an epic jibe after their Champions Trophy exit following an eight-run defeat against Afghanistan.
England began their Campaign with a loss to Australia and were expected to bounce back to winning ways. But the mighty Afghans were the ones who found their victory after losing to South Africa in their opener.
Despite setting a massive target of 326 runs, Omarzai bagged a five-wicket haul for 217 runs in 49.5 overs. Joe Root smashed a 120 runs off 111 deliveries, but Afghan bowling department reigned supreme as even Mohammad Nabi struck twice.
Earlier Afghanistan posted 325 runs in 50 overs, with Ibrahim Zadran clobbering 177 runs off 146 deliveries. Meanwhile, Jofra Archer took three wickets for England.
Harry Brook scored only 25 runs in 21 deliveries before handing an easy catch to Mohammad Nabi. Seeing his dismissal Sunil Gavaskar came forward and mocked Harry Brook.
He pointed out Brook’s recent comments from his time in Kolkata where the English batter complained about the smog.

“I just saw Harry Brook’s dismissal. Are the lights in Lahore ok or not? Because when he played in Kolkata, he said that he couldn’t see the ball properly because of smog.”
“That’s why I’m asking. I hope the Lahore lights are fine? Because the catching practice he gave to get out… I don’t know,” said Gavaskar.
“They will still come and start moaning the next morning. See they cannot lose. If they lose there has to be an excuse and the excuse cannot be that they weren’t better that day or the other team was better, they will start blaming everything,” he said, on the Dressing Room show.
“They will start blaming India also because India are playing all their matches in Dubai and why are we not playing our matches at one venue,” he added.
Afghanistan will now face Australia on February 28 and whoever will win the match will progress to the Champions Trophy semifinals.
