    Nepal becomes the first Associate player to qualify for Super Six

    The ongoing ICC U-19 World Cup 2024 has featured the first Associate team to qualify for Super Six.

    The Nepal National U-19 cricket team has made it into the Super 6 stage after having a victory in one match out of three matches they played.

    They lost the match against Pakistan and New Zealand but won the match against Afghanistan which was played on January 26.

    The outcome of the match was critical for both Nepal and Afghanistan, the victorious team obtained a spot in Super Six. Following a target of 146 runs, they fought really hard before reaching the target of 45th over losing all nine wickets.

    Nepal lost three wickets in the early dismissal of Arjun Kumal (10), Gulshan Jha (1), and Bipin Rawal (2) for 24 runs.

    Aakash Tripathi and Dev Khanal scored 49 runs for the fourth wicket before Tripathi was dismissed for 16. Deepak Dumre and Dipesh Kandel were sent out with quick dismissal.

    Dev Khanal was impressive as he scored runs for his side. Dipak and Dev Khanal scored 36 runs before Dev was dismissed. Finally, the match concluded with the fourth ball of the 44th over.

    Faridoon Dawoodzai bagged three wickets during the match. Naseer Khan Maroofkhil and Khalil Ahmed also grabbed two wickets each.

    Nepal Aakash Chand was the pick of a bowler. Dipesh Kandel picked up two wickets whilst Subash Bhandari, Gulshan Jha, and Tilak Bhandari grabbed one wicket each.

    Bangladesh and Nepal will be playing their match on Super Six on January 31 at Mangaung Oval.
