    Mumbai Indians Beat Gujarat Giants by 9 Runs

    Mumbai Indians secured a 9-wicket run in a nail-biting encounter clash against Gujarat Giants in the WPL 2025 match played on March 10 at Brabourne Stadium.

    Despite Bharti’s impressive 61 knock in the lower middle order, Gujarat failed to clinch victory as they lost back-to-back wickets in the final over due to pressure.

    With this win, Mumbai Indians secured second place in the WPL 2025 points table.

    Batting first, Mumbai Indians batters Hayley Matthews and Amelia Kerr opened the innings while Deandra Dottin opened the bowling attack. However, Kerr was sent out on a run out for 5 runs in the third over.

    Joining Matthews, Nat Sciver Brunt helped the side score 44 runs in the powerplay. Priya Mishra who bowled the first over after powerplay went on to dismiss Matthews on the last ball of the over.

    Harmanpreet Kaur who joined Sciver at the crease, went on to attack GG bowlers to recover the side and cross 100+ runs in the board.

    However Ash Gardner break the partnership dismissing Nat Sciver-Brunt for 38 runs. Amajot Kaur who came to bat, made an impressive 27 runs off 15 deliveries with 3 fours and one six before being dismised by Kashvee Gautam.

    Meanwhile Harmanpreet Kaur scored 54 runs off 33 deliveries before being dismissed by Tanuja Kanwar. She has slammed the 7th fifty in the Women’s Premier League.

    Mumbai Indians captain went on to slam her half-century in 31 deliveries which included 8 fours. In 23 WPL matches, She has 675 runs at an average of 39.70 and a strike rate of 138.88. Her highest score of 95* comes against the same opponents.

    However Sajeevan Sanjana and Yastika Bhatia’s contribution in the finals overs, helped Mumbai to post 179 runs in their 20 over innings.

    In the purusit of chasing 179 runs, Beth Mooney and Kashvee Gautam opened for Gujarat Giants while Shabnim Ismail opened the bowling attack.

    However GG Women lost both openers for 7 and 10 respectively within the powerplay. After scoring 40 runs in the powerplay, they lost another wicket of Ashleigh Gardner for a duck.

    Harleen Deol who started fiercely scored 24 runs before dismissed by Amelia Kerr. After Phoebe Litchfield and Deandra Dottin scored 22 and 10 respectively, Bharti Fulmali came with a stunning 61 runs off 25 deliveries and helped the side to march towards victory.

    In the final over they went on to lose back-to-back wicket of Tanuja Kanwar and Simran Shaikh, they were down to last wicket needing 12 runs in the over.

    Finally, Mumbai Indians defended their 179 total and secured a 9 wicket win at Mumbai.
