The Delhi Capitals’ Lizelle Lee has been fined 10 per cent of the match fee and handed one demerit point for breaching the Code of Conduct during the WPL 2026 clash against the Mumbai Indians on January 20 at Kotambi.

The incident occurred in the 11th over of the Capitals’ innings when Lizelle Lee was given out on a stump off by Amanjot Kaur after a lengthy deliberation by the umpires.

The leg side delivery saw Lee Overbalance while attempting a flick, with wicketkeeper Rahila Firdous effecting the stumping.

After reviewing the stump camera, the third umpire ruled that Lizelle Lee’s bat was in the air at the moment the bails were dislodged.

Lizelle Lee was impressive with 46 runs off 28 deliveries, visibly expressing her displeasure as she walked off and continued to remonstrate following the decision.

Unhappy with the decision, Lizelle Lee kept her reaction guarded later at the presentation ceremony, saying, “Look, it was a great take from the keeper. But that’s all I’ve got to say about that.”

According to the league’s media advisory, she admitted to a Level 1 offence under article 2.2 of the Code of Conduct, which relates to the abuse of cricket equipment during the match.

“Lee admitted to a Level 1 offence under Article 2.2 of the Code of Conduct, which relates to the abuse of cricket equipment during the match. For Level 1 breaches, the match referee’s decision is final and binding,” a WPL release stated.

Delhi Capitals had the last laugh as Jemimah Rodrigues returned to form with 51* runs off 37 deliveries out to anchor the 155-run chase, guiding her side to a seven-wicket victory.

The victory keeps Delhi Capitals in competition for the playoffs, with four teams locked on four points, while former RCB tops the WPL 2026 points table.

Delhi Capitals will play their next match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru on January 24 at BCA Stadium, Vadodara.
