    Mumbai Indians Beat Gujarat Giants by 47 Runs

    Mumbai Indians secured a 47-run victory during the WPL 2025 eliminators match against Gujarat Giants on March 13 at Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai. With this win they got the ticket for the finals of the third season.

    Their bowling attack successfully defended their total after impressive knocks from Hayley Matthews, Nat Sciver-Brunt and Harmanpreet Kaur have helped the side post 213 runs in their innings.

    Batting first, Hayley Matthews and Yastika Bhatia opened the innings for Mumbai while Kashvee Gautam opened the bowling attack. Aiming for a fiery start, Yastika Bhatita slammed 15 runs before being dismissed by Dani Gibson in the fifth over.

    Nat Sciver-Brunt joined Hayley Matthews to score 37 runs in the powerplay. However, they went on to score 91 runs in 10 overs stabilising the innings.

    Meanwhile, Hayley Matthews slammed her fifty WPL fifty and also forged a 100+ run partnership with Nat Sciver-Brunt. By the end of 16 overs, Mumbai Indians scored 159 runs for a wicket.

    However Kavshee Gautam went on dismissed Hayley Matthews for 77 runs in the first ball of the 17th over. Nat Sciver-Brunt went on score 77 runs off 41 deliveries being being dismissed by Dani Gibson.

    With Harmanpreet Kaur (36) and Sajeevan Sanjana (1), Mumbai Indians went on to score 213 runs for Gujarat Giants.

    In the pursuit of chasing 213 runs, Gujarat Giants lost three wickets in the powerplay. They lost the wickets of Beth Mooney, Harleen Deol and Ashleigh Gardner cheaply and scored 46 runs in the powerplay.

    Shabnim Ismail dismissed Beth Mooney for 6 runs while Harleen Deol was dismissed on a run out.

    Meanwhile, Hayley Matthews went on to dismiss Ashleigh Gardner for 8 runs. Dani Gibson and Phoebe Litchfield are aiming the revive the side from early dismissals in the match.

    Gibson played a decent innings scoring 34 runs off 24 deliveries before being sent on the run out. Despite Gujarat Giants lost wickets at regular interval, Litchfield and Bharti Fulmali scored 31 and 30 runs respectively.

    Simran Shaikh scored 17 runs before being dismissed by Amelia Kerr. By the end of 17 over, Gujarat lost seven wickets for 157 runs.

    Finally they lost all 10 wickets for 166 runs with four balls remaining. Hayley Matthews bagged three wickets while Amelia Kerr bagged two wickets and Shabnim Ismail and Nat Sciver-Brunt bagged a wicket each.
