Jonty Rhodes names this Player as “Most Powerful Indian Cricketer” Instead of Two Impressive Names

One of the South Africa’s best fielder Jonty Rhodes named Indian skipper Virat Kohli as one of the most powerful Indian cricketer. Rhodes announced his retirement on 2003, post retirement Rhodes spent a good part of his life in India. In extend to his love towards India, Rhodes has named his daughter as ‘India Jeanne Rhodes’.

The South African legend first joined the Mumbai Indian outfit in 2009 in IPL. Rhodes worked with Mumbai Indians till 2017. And now, for the season 2020, Rhodes will join the likes of Anil Kumble, Andy Flower and Wasim Jaffar in the Kings XI Punjab set-up. Jonty Rhodes, recently, visited to India to represent South Africa legends in (now cancelled) the Road Safety World Series.

Most powerful Indian cricketer according to Jonty

In a recent Interview with Times of India, the former South African star talked about India and Indian Cricket.

On asking about the most impressive Indian cricketersRhodes named Indian captain Virat Kohli apart from two other names in Suresh Raina and Jasprit Bumrah. “I feel the most powerful player in the Indian cricket team is Virat Kohli. He has been consistent with his performance and is an overall package. I also really appreciate the performance of Jasprit Bumrah and Suresh Raina. The entire Indian cricket team has a lot of potential in it,” Rhodes told The Times of India.

Bumrah is one of the best pacers in the world right now across formats. It was the IPL which gave him the platform to showcase his talent. Rhodes has seen from close quarters as fielding coach of MIBumrah made his India debut in 2016 and in no timeBumrah became the go to bowler of Indian Captain Virat Kohli in every format of the game. He has developed himself into one of the finest bowlers of all time. With his Lion like guile, accuracy and speed, he can dismantle you anytime you became a little carefree as a batsman.

On the other hand, Raina has fallen down the pecking order and has not played for India since 2018. Raina was expecting a national call-up for the 2019 World Cup also but failed to get into the flight for England. He was also given some chances in 2017 and 2018 but despite some good performances, he was dropped as India kept playing musical chairs for the no.4 slot in the eleven.
