    Delhi Capitals Beat MI Women by 2 Wickets at Vadadora

    The Delhi Capitals Women secured a two-wicket win during the second match of the WPL 2025 against Mumbai Indians on February 15 at Kotambi.

    They secured a win on a final ball of the nail-biting encounter to secure the first win in the WPL 2025.

    After Mumbai was set to bat first Shikha Pandey dismissed Yastika Bhatia and Hayley Matthews for 11 and a duck. However, Nat Sciver-Brunt who came to bat at No.3 joined hands with Harmanpreet Kaur to make a 72-run partnership for the third wicket.

    Captain Harmanpreet Kaur raced for rapid 42 runs in 22 deliveries before being dismissed by Sutherland. On the other hand, Nat Sciver-Brunt scored fifty off 37 deliveries. He came up with fourth WPL 2025 fifty during the match.

    After the dismissal of Kaur, the MI Women batting lineup collapsed with back to back wickets in the match. On the other hand, Nat Sciver went on to haunt DC women Bowlers smashing 80* runs off 59 deliveries.

    With single digit contributions from middle and lower order batters, Mumbai Scored 164 runs with five balls remaining.

    Annabel Sutherland picked three wickets for 34 runs with an economy of 10.70. Meanwhile Shikha Pandey who picked two wickets has conceded only 14 runs in her four over quota with an average of 3.50.

    Delhi Captial who had a solid start, suffered back-to-back dismissals in the run chase with MI bowlers Hayley Matthews, Shabnim Ismail, Amelia Kerr and Nat Sciver-Brunt picking a wicket each.

    DC Women had a fiery start in the 165-run chase against Mumbai Indians and went on to score 60 runs in the powerplay to provide a solid start for the side in the run chase. Shafali Verma kickstarted to score 43 runs in 18 deliveries before being dismissed by Hayley Matthews.

    On the other hand, Meg Lanning batted slowly and steadily to build up the innings. By the end of the powerplay, DC women scored 60 runs for 1st wicket.

    However, after the dismissal of Sutherland and Alice Capse, Delhi Capitals struggled with 5 wickets for 109 runs. Nikki Prasad and Sarah Bryce brought in stability to the innings with their 35 and 21 runs to close the high thriller target.

    With contributions from Shikha Pandey, Radha Yadhav and Arundhati Reddy, Delhi Capitals secured the win at Vadadora.
