Deepak Chahar, Mayank Yadav Unlikely to Play in IPL 2024

Deepak Chahar and Mayank Yadav have suffered injuries and their availability for the remaining matches of the IPL 2024 season for their respective teams is still doubtful.

Chahar who plays for CSK has suffered an injury during the side’s previous match played against Punjab Kings on Wednesday. He has played in 8 in the season so far and picked 5 wickets for the side. “Deepak’s injury is not looking good. I will not say he is ruled out of the season but doubtful,” said the CEO of CSK, Kasi Viswanathan.

He managed to deliver two balls before walking out of the ground against Punjab Kings. Chennai will play PBKS again in their next match on Sunday, but Chahar has not traveled with the team to the Himachal City.

“He has stayed back in Chennai,” Viswanathan confirmed. “We’re waiting for a report from the medical team.” After the game against PBKS, CSK head coach Stephen Fleming, “Deepak Chahar doesn’t look good. (The) initial feeling wasn’t great, so I’m hoping for a more positive report when the physio and doc have a look.”

CSK has another injury concern as Tushar Deshpande is down with flu but he has traveled to Dharamsala just as Matheesha Pathirana who also missed the last game like Deshpande due to a niggle. “We will know about their availability only on Sunday,” the CSK CEO said.

On the other hand, Lucknow Super Giants Mayank Yadav has suffered a side strain and it worsened during the side’s last encounter against Mumbai Indians on April 30. Initially, he was the sensational pacer of the tournament and was considered one of the potential candidates for India’s T20 World Cup Squad.

But his fitness has thrown serious doubt about his availability for the remaining games in this season. Currently, CSK has 10 points and secured fifth position while Lucknow has 12 points and secured fourth position in the IPL 2024 points table.

Chennai will be playing their next match against Punjab Kings while Lucknow Super Giants will be playing their next match against Kolkata Knight Riders on May 05.
