The Lucknow Super Giants has been provided with a major boost with Mayank Yadav rejoining the team camp after injury. He will be likely to join the squad for the IPL 2025 games against Rajasthan Royals.

The franchise has announced the return of Mayank Yadav return with a special video on their social media sparking hopes among fans that this could be the much-needed boost for their bowling attack, which has struggled this season.

Mayank had been sidelined from both team India and LSG’s campaign fixtures so far due to back and toe injuries.

Mayank Yadav was at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence due to a lumbar stress injury. He was expected to recover by the second week of April, but was further delayed due to his toe injury.

Langer had spoken about Mayank’s injury at the start of the season and revealed the pacer injured his toe by accidentally kicking his bed.

However, the 22-year old checked into the team hotel on April 15 and is reportedly set to be available for LSG’s upcoming clash against Rajasthan Royals on April 19.

Mayank returning to the side will be a huge boost for the team, which has been excelling despite the absence of their key pacer. During the start of the season, LSG signed Shardul Thakur which has done well so far.

Lucknow are in the fifth place of the IPL 2025 points table with four wins out of seven games they played in the season so far. They won the games against Sunrisers Hyderabad, Mumbai Indians, Kolkata Knight Riders and Gujarat Titans.

However, they suffered defeat in the matchups against Delhi Capitals, Punjab Kings and Chennai Super Kings.

Earlier LSG head coach Justin Langer sounder upbeat about Mayank’s recovery and said, “Mayank is up and running, which is really great for Indian cricket and for the IPL. I saw some video of him bowling yesterday at the NCA. He was bowling at about 90 to 95%.”

Mayank Yadav took the IPL by storm last season with his raw pace and wicket-taking ability, consistently bowling with speeds above 150km/hr. He had played only four games for LSG last season and was among their five retained players before the mega auction.
