The fourth match of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 has been scheduled to be played between Australia and England on 22 February at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore.

Australia and England have played 160 ODIs so far where Australia have the upper hand with 90 wins. Australia has won the ICC Champions Trophy a couple of times while England hasn’t won a single title but has reached the final twice in 2004 and 2013.

ICC Champions Trophy 2025 Australia vs England game is also the first time that England and Australia will be playing an ODI match on Pakistani soil.

Notably, Australia have not won a match in the Champions Trophy across the last two editions – they have lost three while three ended in no results. On the other hand, England played their last ODI in Pakistan back in December 2005.

Australian captain Steve Smith who opted to bowl first after winning the toss against England at Lahore says “Looks a pretty good surface”. While England captain Jos Buttler expressed excitement for the Champions Trophy 2025 clash against Australia in Lahore, claims “Guys are in a really good place”.

During the AUS vs ENG Champions Trophy 2025 clash in Lahore, my mistake, the officials played the India national anthem for a couple of seconds instead of Australia’s.

Speaking of the match, winning the toss Australia opted to field first where Philip Salt and Ben Duckett opened the batting inning for England while Spencer Johnson opened the bowling attack.

Phil Salt made an aggressive start by hitting a boundary and a six off the final delivery of the first over. In the very next over, Ben Dwarshuis dismissed Phil Salt for 10 after Alex Carey pulled off a screamer in mid-on.

After losing an early wicket, England was expected to make a steady inning but Dwarshuis in the sixth over struck back and dismissed Jamie Smith was 15 runs. At the end of six overs, England scored 46 runs for 2 wickets loss.

After a couple of dismissals inside the first powerplay, Ben Duckett and Joe Root started to build a steady partnership which pushed England to score 73 runs for 2 wickets at the end of 10 overs.

Ben Duckett and Joe Root continued to add runs at a healthy run rate and pushed England’s score to 200 at the end of 30 overs. While the duo was seen cemented, Zampa dismissed Root for 68 in the final ball of the 31st over. Following Root’s dismissal, Duckett secures his maiden Champions Trophy century in 95 deliveries.
