The young batter Amy Hunter claims the Women’s Player of the Month award after having a dominant T20I series against Zimbabwe.

The ICC has revealed the ICC Women’s Player of the Month nominees for January 2024 last week out of which Hunter won the ICC Awards. She emerged as the winner among experienced players like Alyssa Healy and Beth Mooney.

Amy Hunter is one of the young talents lighting up the international stage and she celebrates her maiden award on the back of significant scores with the bat when Ireland won against Zimbabwe.

She smashed 101* runs on 66 deliveries and helped the side to win by 57 runs. She smashed 77 and 42 runs in the second and third T20I matches helping the side to win the series against Zimbabwe.

“It’s an honor to win the ICC Women’s Player of the Month award for January. To be on a shortlist alongside two of the world’s best is something that I am immensely proud of.

“It’s been an amazing start to the year, with two convincing series wins against Zimbabwe. I am pleased to have been able to contribute to the team’s success and hope to continue to do so,” said Amy Hunter.

She amassed 220 runs during the series with a strike rate of 144.73 and became the first Ireland Player to win the ICC Women’s Player of the Award since Arlene Kelly won back in August.

Meanwhile, Shamar Joseph emerged as the winner of the ICC Men’s Player of the Month for January 2024 among the players Ollie Pope and Josh Hazlewood.
