The former cricketer Ajay Jadeja has lauded the Indian Cricket team after defeating New Zealand by four wickets in the Champions Trophy 2025 finals on March 09 at Dubai to clinch the third Champions Trophy title.
After the triumph, former Indian cricketer Ajay Jadeja shared his thoughts on the victory. He said he desired to see India’s victory in Lahore.
Pakistan was the original host of the tournament. However, India refused to travel to Pakistan due to security concerns. As a result, India’s matches were shifted to Dubai where they remained unbeaten in the tournament.
Speaking in the media, Ajay Jadeja has praised Pakistani fans for their excitement during the tournament. Despite Men in Green’s early exit in the Trophy, their fans supported the event with wnthusiasm.
“A big shoutout to the fans because every player I’ve spoken to, who played in Pakistan, enjoyed the experience. The people of Pakistan showed great support by turning up in large numbers.”
“Even though their team didn’t perform as well as they had hoped, they maintained their enthusiasm, making it a joyful moment and a fantastic tournament.”
“I just wished that if India had won this in Lahore, it would have been even more special— a victory that went beyond just cricket”, Jadeja said.

India successfully chased a 252 run target against New Zealand in the final. Captain Rohit Sharma made a valiant 76 run knock off 83 deliveries which included seven fours and three sixes.
Meanwhile, Wasim Akram has also heaped praise on the Indian team and said this ‘team would have won anywhere in the world.’
“This Indian team would have won it anywhere in the world. Yes, there were a lot of talks, but once decided that India would play all of their matches in Dubai and had they played in Pakistan, they would have won there as well.”
“They won the 2024 T20 World Cup without losing a game, they went on to win the Champions Trophy without losing even one game which shows the depth in their cricket, that shows the leadership,” Wasim Akram said.
They went on to make a serious comeback after a whitewash against New Zealand and humiliating 3-1 defeat in Border Gavaskar Trophy.
“If you remember they lost to New Zealand 3-0 in Test series at home, lost the Border-Gavaskar trophy and lost the series in Sri Lanka so they were under pressure to remove the captain, the coach… but sanity prevailed.”
“BCCI backed them, said this is our captain, this is our coach and now they are the champions of the champion,” Wasim Akram added.
