Ramandeep Singh has provided a message after their loss to Mumbai Indians in the IPL 2025 clash on Monday. Ramandeep was one of the six retentions made by the franchise from the title winner run last year.
The right-handed batter who has largely batted at No.7 or lower for KKR, playing mostly as a finisher has expressed his desire to open the batting. The IPL allows only a few players to be retained every three years.
Speaking in the post-match conference, Ramandeep Singh said, “Main toh chahta hu mujhhe open kara de. Meri toh wahi koshish rehti hai. (I want to open the batting. I always try to bat up the order).”
The batter who came out to bat as low as no.9 against MI and scored 22 runs off 12 balls with two sixes, said he is happy to bat wherever the team wants him to do.
“Team ka jaha combination set hai, jaha team mein mujhe opporutnity milti hai, mujhe waha accha karne ki koshish karni hai. Match-winner banne ki koshish karni hai. (We have a set combination, I am ready to bat anywhere the team wants me to. I will to produced match-winning knocks there),” he added.

He also voiced his concerns about the mega-auction after the 2025 champions were hammered by Mumbai Indians in the 3rd match of the 2025 season. He mentioned that after winning the championship last year, they had to change their entire team due to a mega auction.
KKR lost players like Phil Salt, Shreyas Iyer and Mitchell Starc in the mega-auction. Ramandeep Singh said he was not a big fans of the mega auction every three years.
“Mega auctions are disheartening. You set a combination, and then every three years you have to change the team. But that is not an excuse; teams will try and find their winning combinations as quickly as possible, and we are trying to find our winning combination as well,” Ramandeep added.
Meanwhile KKR captain Ajinkya Rahane spoke about the same and said that the team needed partnerships to stay in the game.
“Collective batting failure. It was a good wicket to bat on, as I mentioned in the toss. 180-190 would have been good on this wicket. It has a very good bounce. Sometimes you have to use the pace and bounce. We got to learn really fast from this game,” Rahane said after the match. KKR will be taking over Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 03 at Eden Gardens.
