The Sydney Sixers made a massive announcement on April 01 claiming that they have signed the star batter for the next two seasons of the Big Bash League on their official X account.
The franchise has decided to have some fun at the expense of cricket fans as they announced the signing of Virat Kohli for the next two seasons of the BBL.

The news spread like wildfire on the internet as the fans got exited to see their idol feature in a new league. Meanwhile most of the fans found to post to be fishy as the BCCI doesn’t allow its contracted players to participate in overseas league.
However they Sixers themselves revealed that this was a prank by them to celebrate April Fools’ day soon later.
Virat Kohli who has been been a stalwart in the IPL being the highest run-getter in the history of tournament scoring 8094 runs so far with 8 hundreds and 56 fifties to his tally.
Indian players are not allowed to play in foreign leagues like the BBL until they have retired, but the tweet from the Sixers created some frenzy on Tuesday morning.
The fans responded to the post and appreciated the humour from the 3 time BBL champions. Virat Kohli’s side has made a solid start in the IPL 2025 as RCB currently sits at the top of the points table. RCB started their campaign with an comfortable win against KKR where he slammed a fifty.
The second match was a mixed bag for the star batter as he struggled to find form against CSK at the Chepauk. Virat Kohli scored 31 runs off 30 balls, but it was a good knock at the End of the day as Bengaluru defeated Chennai by 50 runs.
