Last Date for New IPL teams to Select Players: BCCI sets January 22 as the deadline for the 2 new IPL teams to select their players. As per IPL rules, the 2 new teams are allowed to pick a maximum of 3 players with not more than one overseas player ahead of the IPL 2022 Mega Auction.

Ahead of IPL 2022, the TATA group replace VIVO as the title sponsor of the season for the same rate.

Last Date for New IPL Teams to Select Players

Earlier BCCI announces that IPL 2022 mega auction will be held on February 12 and 13 at Bengaluru. In order not to postpone the mega event BCCI decides to shorten the players’ signing duration.

“They have time till 5 pm on January 22 to complete their signings,” said a BCCI official confirming the letter to the newcomers.

The teams were initially expected to be given two weeks’ time but it is being presumed that 10 days would be sufficient as during the time taken for conducting the due diligence on CVC Capital – which incidentally halted the whole IPL process – the teams have done their groundwork.

The January 22 deadline also means the mega auction is on course to be completed on February 12 and 13 as originally planned, as there is sufficient time for the BCCI to complete player enrolments for the auction register.
