The pacer Jasprit Bumrah has been received fitness clearance by the BCCI medical team to feature in the IPL 2025. However, he will have to play two simulation games before making it to the MI Playing 11.
Bumrah who sustained a back injury during the final test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy has been sidelined in competitive cricket. It is reported that Bumrah will link with the Mumbai Indians squad ahead of the upcoming fixture against Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
However, he is unlikely to feature in the match on April 07 at Wankhede Stadium. The pacer has missed first four games of the 2025 season, after being benched for the home series against England. Bumrah was initially named in the India’s provisional squad for the Champions Trophy, he was later replaced by Varun Chakravarthy.
According to reports, Jasprit Bumrah will be require to undergo a couple of match simulations before being deemed match-fit. While the CoE has granted medical clearance and MI managment will closely monitor him during the simulation games.
Mumbai has played three games in IPL 2025 winning one and losing two and have handed debuts to the likes of Satanarayana Raju and Vignesh Puthur and Ashwani Kumar in Bumrah’s absence with Trent Boult, Deepak Chahar and Hardik Pandya were the seam bowling options.
They lost the matches against Chennai Super Kings, Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Super Giants while their only win comes against Kolkata Knight Riders.
Jasprit Bumrah has been part of the Indian Premier League 2013, and picking up 165 wickets in 133 matches over the years. The only IPL season he missed since he started playing was in 2023 due to back injury.
Mumbai will play their next match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru on April 07 and will travel to Delhi to play their match against Capitals on April 13 at Arun Jaitley.
