A bizarre incident occurred during the NZ vs PAK 3rd ODI at the Bay Oval when the stadium in Mount Maunganui went dark as the floodlights went off during the play.
The incident took place in the 39th over of the Pakistan innings with Tayyab Tahir taking the strike. The video went viral on social media when Pakistan were 218/8 in the 39th over when the incident occured.
Jacob Duffy who was set to bowl the delivery, started his run-up and was about to release the ball from his hand, the floodlights at the stadium completely went off, forcing the entire stadium to go dark.
Tahir instinctively walked away while the ball narrowly missed the stumps and reportedly trickled to the boundary.
Tayyab Tahir made little of the forced break as he was dismissed for 33 runs off 31 deliveries in the next ball after the lights came on. New Zealand went on to clinch the game by 43 runs, sealing a dominant 3-0 sweep in the series.

Pakistan has failed New Zealand tour, suffering 1-4 defeat in the T20I series and 0-3 whitewash in the ODI series.
Pakistan captain Mohammad Rizwan expressed disappointment at the outcome. “Disappointing series for us,” he said. “(Positives) Babar was in good touch with two fifties. Naseem Shah’s batting as well. In the bowling, Sufiyan Muqeem was the guy who bowled really well. I give credit to New Zealand in all departments. They’ve been playing well.”
“They played against us in Pakistan. There are professionals in all departments. We need to improve, that’s it. In New Zealand, it’s very important to play well against the new ball. We’ll learn from here and fix it,” added Rizwan.
While asked about the Pakistan’s performance in the final ODI was best of their tour, “If you lose, you can’t say like that. Individually we are good. New Zealand won all the key moments. After the Champions Trophy and this series, we’ll leave the past,” concluded Mohammad Rizwan.
