In an interesting development, Chennai Super Kings has signed South African international Dewald Brevis for the remainder of the IPL 2025, replacing injured pacer Gurjapneet Singh, with CSK having one Overseas player slot open.
Dewald Brevis, who was previously part of the Mumbai Indians, recently shared an all-yellow post on his Instagram story without any caption, which created a storm on Social media, with fans speculating he is set to join the CSK.
In the meantime, the franchise has officially announced the welcoming of the batting all-rounder Dewald Brevis to the squad.

This is significant move for CSK who has been struggling with only two out of five wins in the ongoing season.
Eventhough he has only played few matches for South Africa, he has been in spotlights, drawing comparisons with the legendary AB de Villiers.
Previously Dewald Brevis has played 10 games for Mumbai Indians in the IPL and amassed 230 runs at an average of 23.00. However, he continues to represent Mumbai sister franchises in MLC and SA20.
Chennai had a solid start with a win against their rivals Mumbai Indians but suffered a straight five losses in the games against Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Rajasthan Royals, Delhi Capitals, Punjab Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders.
However, they were able to coup victory in the game against Lucknow Super Giants. They suffered a major blow with Ruturaj Gaikwad ruled out of the tournament ahead of the clash against Kolkata due to elbow injury. The youngster Ayush Mhatre has been brought in as a replacement for the the CSK skipper.
As a result MS Dhoni took over the captaincy, and secured one victory out of two games. Chennai Super Kings are hanging in the bottom of the IPL 2025 points table and are in verge of elimination.
They need to gain some big wins in the upcoming clashes if they need to climb up in the table. CSK will play their next game against Mumbai Indians on April 20 at Wankhede Stadium.
