WPL 2026 Schedule: The 4th edition of the Women’s Premier League is set to return with bigger action after a successful run of the tournament.

With a growing fan base and exciting games, the Women’s Premier League has evolved as one of the prestigious tournaments in Women’s cricket.

Ahead of the upcoming season, BCCI is working along with the Tata Group, planning to hold an auction, aiming to bring fresh talent and new faces to the spotlight.

According to the WPL 2026 auction rules, all five franchises will have to announce the list of retained and released players. With a total budget of INR 15 crore, the teams will aim to reshuffle their squads and tactics during the WPL 2026 auction.

Mumbai Indians are the current champions, securing their second title after beating Delhi Capitals by 8 runs in the finals of the WPL 2025.

The WPL 2026 season is set to be played in the January-February window, as the tournament is set to be preponded due to India co-hosting the Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 with Sri Lanka in February-March.

The tournament also serves as the preparation for the players to gear up for the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 starting in June.

WPL 2026 Schedule

As per the WPL 2026 schedule, the first match will be played on Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bengaluru on January 09 at Dr DY Patil Sports Stadium Academy, Navi Mumbai.

WPL 2026 Squad

Based on the 2026 auction rules, WPL teams can have 18 players and can retain up to five players from the previous season.

The team’s RTM options at the auction are determined by the number of players they can retain.

WPL 2026 Format 

The foruth edition of theb will follow the Round Robin format with a Double Round- robin and playoffs (knock-out stage). Following are the details of the WPL 2026 Format:

• All participating(5) teams will play against each other twice which will mark a total of 20 league matches.
• The topper of the WPL 2026 Points Table will directly qualify for the final.
• The eliminator match will be played between the 2nd and 3rd placed teams.
• The winner of the eliminator will qualify as the second finalist for the WPL 2026 final match.
