Being the runners-up of the previous edition of the tournament in 2024, South Africa will be eager to register their name in the T20 World Cup winners list.
With proven match-winners alongside fearless young talent, the Proteas enter the tournament aiming to turn potential into performance and challenge the best on the global stage.
As per the Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 schedule, South Africa will play their opener match against Canada on February 09 at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad.

The National selectors of CSA have unveiled South Africa’s T20 World Cup 2026 squad led by Aiden Markram.
South Africa’s squad is a combination of explosive batting power, all-rounder and world-class bowling to defend their title at home. The squad features players like David Miller, Quinton de Kock, Keshav Maharaj and youngsters like Dewald Brevis, Tony de Zorzi, Kwena Maphaka.

ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 Groups
A total of 20 teams have been divided into four competitive pools as part of the T20 World Cup 2026 groups, setting the stage for an intense and evenly balanced tournament.
A total of 55 games will be played to determine the champions in the T20 format.
In addition to the two hosts, the top 7 teams from the previous tournament automatically qualified, as did the next 3 teams in the ICC Men’s T20I Team Rankings. The remaining 8 teams were decided via a regional qualification process.

ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 Format
The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 will follow the group stage, Super 8s and knockout stage format.
- The qualified 20 teams will be divided into 4 groups of five teams.
- The top 2 teams in each group will advance to the Super8 round.
- The qualified teams will be categorised into 2 groups of four teams, where the top 2 teams from each group will qualify for the knockout stage.
- In the knockout stage, a total of 2 semifinals and a final game will be played to decide the winner of the tournament.
