The Hundred Draft 2023 Process

Stage 1: Retention

  • Men’s teams could keep up to 10 of their players, plus one centrally contracted England star. Women’s teams could retain up to 4 of their players.
  • During retention, a squad could keep a maximum of three marquee players, which are England centrally contracted players or overseas players – but with a maximum of either two England or two overseas players. Teams couldn’t retain three of one category.
  • It is not a compulsion for the teams to fill all of their retention slots.

  • Oval Invincibles
  • Birmingham Phoenix
  • London Spirit

Right To Match(RTM)

Each team gets one “Right to Match” option during the Hundred Draft 2023. The RTM allows a team to re-sign one of their 2022 players whom they didn’t retain previously. The team will make use of this option when a rival team offers to buy them during the Draft.

Teams using their “Right to Match” must offer the same salary as the player’s prospective new team. If they’ve already filled up all their slots at that band, the option isn’t available to them.

Stage 3: The Vitality Wildcard And Open Market

  • The Vitality Wildcard Draft will take place nearer to the start of The Hundred, with the first match on Tuesday 1 August.
  • Teams can pick a maximum of 2 players at the Vitality Wildcard Draft.
  • The players who went unsold in the Hundred Draft 2023 might get an opportunity to bag a contract during the Vitality Wildcard Draft stage.
