    Wiaan Mulder Hits Triple Century During 2nd Zimbabwe Test; Sacrifices Chances to Surpass Brian Lara’s 400

    Wiaan Mulder has etched the history of records in cricket and was on the cusp of breaking Brian Lara’s record of the highest ever individual score in Test cricket.

    However, South Africa decided to declare the innings at 626/5, and Mulder remained unbeaten on 367 by the end of the innings. However, he has entered the top five list of the highest individual scores in Test cricket.

    The Proteas men are scheduled to play a two-match test series in the South Africa tour of Zimbabwe, where the visitors secured an unassailable 1-0 lead and will be aiming for a clean sweep.

    The right-handed batter chose not to go after Brian Lara’s long-standing record of scoring the most runs in a Single Test innings. Brian Lara has played an unbeaten knock of 400 off 582 deliveries against England in 2004 at St John’s Stadium in Antigua.

    Apart from South African batter, several came close to breaking the record – Michael Clarke, David Warner, and Mahela Jayawardene, but no was not able to break the record.

    Mulder now holds the record for the highest individual score by a South African batter, going past Hashim Amla’s previous best of 311 against England in 2012.

    Wiaan Mulder also went on to smash the second fastest triple century in a Test after making up the feat off 297 deliveries against Zimbabwe.

    Virender Sehwag holds the record for the fastest triple hundred after he achieved the milestone of 278 balls against South Africa in Chennai.

    For the entire duration of his knock, Wiaan Mulder adopted an aggressive batting approach troubling Zimbabwe bowlers all around the park.

    His knock included 49 fours and 4 sixes. Mulder has scored a century in the first test of the series and also played a knock of 147 runs in the second innings.

    Mulder now holds the record for the highest individual score by a batter in away test. Pakistan’s Hanif Mohammed’s score is the second best as he played a knock of 337 against West Indies in 1958.
