The 25-year-old Prithvi Shaw has parted ways with the Mumbai Cricket Association and will play for Maharashtra for the next domestic season.
He will be playing under Ruturaj Gaikwad‘s Captaincy as he is set to revive his cricketing career.
Prithvi who played cricket for Mumbai, before making it to the international team has received his NOC the Mumbai Cricket Association.
Prithvi Shaw has captained U-19 cricket team to a World Cup win before making his India debut.
He has played 58 first class and 65 List A matches in his career. Shaw has scored 4556 runs in red-ball cricket at an average of 46.02 with 13 centuries and 18 fifties to his named and has amassed 3399 runs at an average of 55.72 with 10 centuries and 14 half centuries. in ODI.
“At this stage of my career, I believe joining the Maharashtra team will help me grow further as a cricket. I am deeply grateful to the Mumbai Cricket Association for the opportunities and support I have received over the years,” said Prithvi Shaw.
Shaw will be aiming to open the innings with Ruturaj and both openers will be aiming to play for Team India.

Prithvi Shaw has been out of Team India since 2023. He was dropped twice during the 2024-25 season. He was part of the Ranji Trophy but was dropped after a couple of matches. He made his return for Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy but was again dropped for the Vijay Hazare Trophy.
Shockingly, he went unsold in the IPL 2025 mega auction, which ended his season early. He participated in the Mumbai T20 league, which took place after IPL 2025.
Prithvi isn’t expected to make it to any of the Duleep Trophy squads. Hence, he can be seen in action with the Ranji Trophy in October.
MCA President Rohit Pawar welcomed Shaw and felt that his inclusion will bolster the Maharashtra Cricket Team.
