Who will Replace Ravindra Jadeja in Second Test

India will be having a major setback after KL Rahul and Jadeja were Ruled out due to their injury for the second Test in England’s tour of India 2024.

Who will Replace Ravindra Jadeja in second Test

With only two days left for the second Test to be held in Vizag, the Indian side found themselves in a muddle after Jadeja and Rahul were not fit enough to play in the second test.

Jadeja picked up a hamstring injury while KL Rahul complained of quadriceps pain. Furthermore, Virat Kohli will not be part of the squad as he has withdrawn from the first two matches.

This created confusion among the team management to work on key factors to be considered for playing 11.

It will perhaps be the most decisive factor that India will have no experienced batter in the line-up other than Rohit Sharma.

Rahul was one of the batters who scored 80+ runs in the opening Test at Virat Kohli’s No. 3 Position. Hence with the omission of KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer will be elevated to the no. 3 Spot.

Shubman Gill who was celebrated as Kohli’s successor, following a century spree in 2023 starting, Gill’s performance has come under the scanner. Gill was impressive during his knock against Australia where he smashed 128 runs.

In the first Test against England, Gill only scored 23 and 0 in two innings. With India lacking options for the second Test, Gill might come in Handy for the Vizag test, but he might be omitted for the third Test with the return of Virat Kohli and KL Rahul.

BCCI announced the squad for the second Test which ended the long wait of Sarfaraz Khan for the maiden Indian call-up, having constantly knocked on the selector’s door.

He scored 160 runs off 161 deliveries during the four-day Test between India A and England Lions, where he was named the Player of the Match.

On the other hand, India had Rajat Patidar who was in his top form have been added to the squad as Kohli’s replacement before the first Test.

If India wants to keep their batting intact, they have to choose between Washington Sundar or Saurabh Kumar. The other option would be replacing Siraj with Kuldeep and picking one among Sundar or Saurabh in place of Jadeja.

India and England will be playing their second Test match starting on February 02 at ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium.
