Axar Patel knocked unbeaten 64 runs off just 35 deliveries while batting at 7. Team India loses all its hope after the fall of Shreyas Iyer and Sanju Samson who builds a 99 runs partnership in the 300+ run chase.

Following an impressive inning of the first ODI, Dhawan failed to score the expected run and was dismissed off 13 runs. Following his dismissal, Shreyas Iyer and Gill were expected to make a partnership but failed when K Mayers dismissed Gill for 43 runs.

In his next over K Mayers again made a wicket by dismissing Suryakumar Yadav for 9 runs. Indian middle order player Sanju Samson made the much-needed stand with Shreyas Iyer and starts to pump the Indian scoreboard.

In the 33rd over following a review, Shreyas Iyer lose his wicket for 63 runs while Sanju Samson was dismissed for 54 runs in the 39th over.

India was in need of 100 runs in the last 10 overs while Deepak Hooda and Axar Patel were in the crease. At the end of 40 overs, India stood at 212/5, with Axar (4*) and Hooda (18*).

The dynamic player Axar Patel starts to hit Windies bowling all around the yard. Axar-Hooda brought up their 50-run stand in 31 balls. The equation came down to 56 runs required in the final six overs.

He struck 5 sixes and 3 boundaries of the 35 balls he faced and scored match-winning 64 runs. With the victory, India sealed the series by winning the 2 matches of the 3 match series. For his impressive all-rounder skill, Axar Patel was named as the player of the match.

“I think this is a special one. It came at a crucial time and also helped the team to win the series. We have done the same in the IPL. We just needed to remain calm and keep the intensity up,” said Axar in a post-match presentation.

“I was playing an ODI after close to 5 years. I would want to continue performing like this for my team,” he added.

The final ODI match of the series will be played on July 27 in Queen’s Park Oval, Port of Spain, Trinidad. The match will start at 7:00 PM IST / 01:30 PM GMT / 09:30 AM LOCAL with toss at 30 minutes prior.
